Walter Cronkite: Mourning His Death and the Decline of Objective Journalism

Americans trusted Walter Cronkite because he presented the news objectively each evening. He was not partial to one side or the other, as so many cable newscasters are today.

His guiding light was the truth. He carefully separated the news from opinion rather than mixing them together. When he finally came out in favor of ending the war in Vietnam, it was one of the few times he presented opinion. Because it was rare, it was all the more powerful.

Today, the willingness of some newscasters to lie is outrageous. Even if they are presenting opinion, it needs to be based upon factual information. As citizens of the United States, it's our job to call out supposed journalists who pay no heed to facts in their reporting. Stop watching them and boycott the advertisers and cable stations who support these clowns. We can't stand on the sidelines and watch while journalism, and our nation, is destroyed from within.
